A Happy and Healthy Relationship

Good romantic relationships leads to overall good health, less stress, sense of purpose and a longer life.  And as was mentioned last week, good partners make good parents.  If you don't have the motivation to work on your relationship for your sake, or your partner's, make it better for the benefit of your child.  Below is an article with three tips for a good relationship.  Choose just one to work on this week.

The Gottman Institute sends out a one minute read every few days to help you work on your relationship.  It is worth taking the 60 seconds to think about your romantic commitment to your partner.  It's a great conversation starter to get you into a romantic mood, so ask your partner to subscribe too.

This semester's book is No Drama Discispline, but Daniel Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson.  This week of February 18, we will discuss the Chapter 2. Discussion will begin at 9:30 am in the morning classes, and after our 1:00 introductions in our afternoon classes.

Building Up the Partnership Relationship For Our Own And Our Child's Health

  Pandemic Shows Children's Well-Being Rests On Parents' Psychological Health (October, 2020) means that we have to take care of ourselves, to take care of our children. It's taking us to the basics: the top three parenting practices: 1) Love and Warmth 2) Relationship Skills, and 3) Stress Management.  Practicing family rituals help children thrive, even before the pandemic.  But they need it now more than ever, since they don't get the peer interaction that they used to have.  To make up for this deficit, they need strong family bonds that bring security and identity.  Rituals Defined:  A family ritual is a set of behaviors that is repeated and that is symbolically meaningful.
